Agartala, Mar 29 (FD) Former Tripura Chief Minister and CPI(M) Politburo member Manik Sarkar has alleged that the BJP-Tipra Motha alliance government is suffering from insecurity and resorting to undemocratic means to suppress opposition voices. Speaking at a CPI(M) event at Agartala Town Hall on Friday, he claimed that the ruling dispensation fears the growing strength of the opposition.
Sarkar criticized the government for failing to address essential public concerns, including food security, housing, education, and healthcare. He asserted that when a government ignores the people’s needs, it is only a matter of time before it loses public support.
Highlighting the 2023 Assembly Election results, he alleged that the ruling party is aware of the actual outcome and is using assembly disruptions to silence CPI(M) MLAs. He also condemned recent attacks on CPI(M) leaders in Agartala, calling them a desperate attempt to intimidate the opposition.
Sarkar urged party workers to focus on present challenges rather than wait for the 2028 elections. He announced plans for a large public gathering in response to the recent violence, signaling a renewed push against the BJP-Tipra Motha government. "We must resist the current situation so that no one can accuse us of inaction," he emphasized.
