Manik Sarkar meets Governor at Rajbhavan

Agartala, July 4 (FD) Former chief minister and CPI (M) politburo member Manik Sarkar on Wednesday met Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu at Raj Bhawan in a courtesy call.

This meeting was in response to the Governor’s invitation a few days ago.

When invited Sarkar to Raj Bhawan, he was not in the town and went outside in connection with a meeting of the CPI (M) politburo. However, he communicated to the governor that he call on him later.

On his return he sought an appointment which was granted by the governor at 3-30 PM yesterday. Accordingly Sarkar reached the Raj Bhawan and held a one and half hour meeting with the governor and both of them swap over views on the ongoing political situation in the state as well as the country.

Meanwhile, in a separate event, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha called on the former Chief Minister; Sarkar in the latter’s official residence last evening.

It was learnt that the chief minister had expressed his keenness to meet and speak to Sarkar earlier but the meeting happened yesterday. Both the statesman of state spent more than an hour together and discussed important issues concerning the state. The meeting between Sarkar and Saha was depicted as very pleasant. FD JK
