Agartala, Dec 18 (FD) After a long gap, the opposition CPI-M has decided to train their guns towards the royal family and the Tipramotha Supremo, Pradyot Kishore Debbarma for continuous failure to bring smiles in the face of the poor tribals of the state, who constitute one third of the state’s estimated 40 lakh populations.
Addressing the followers of the party yesterday during the sub-divisional conference at Kailashahar in Unakoti district, Manik Sarkar, the party’s politburo member and former Chief Minister said, they claimed to have ruled Tripura for about 1300 years, but still the tribals of the state remained poor and uneducated.
“What have they done in their long tenure in regime? They lived a lavish life, when the tribals of the state were living a poverty stricken life. How many schools were built or what was done for their development? Nothing”, he said.
Sarkar said, in 1945 Janashiksha Samity was formed under the leadership of Dasharath Debbarma, Hemanta Debbarma and Dinesh Debbarma and mass awareness was done. They also built schools and many development projects, he added.
He said that proper developmental projects were undertaken during the rule of the Communists that began in 1978 and an all-round development had taken place.
Among others, Unakoti district Secretary, Krishnendu Chowdhury, party leader Biswaroop Goswami, Central Committee member, Tapan Chakraborty was present. FD JK
