In a letter addressed to several national leaders, the Chief Minister highlighted the historical, spiritual and cultural importance of the temple, which is recognised as one of the 51 Shakti Peethas in the country.
Dr. Saha stated that the centuries-old temple, with a history spanning more than 500 years, stands as a symbol of Tripura’s rich heritage, deep-rooted faith and communal harmony. He noted that thousands of devotees and pilgrims from across India and abroad visit the shrine every year to seek the blessings of Goddess Tripura Sundari.
The Chief Minister also referred to the annual Diwali Fair organised at the temple premises, which attracts lakhs of devotees and tourists and has emerged as one of the largest religious and cultural gatherings in Tripura.
Highlighting recent developmental initiatives, Dr. Saha said significant infrastructural upgrades and beautification works have been undertaken in and around the temple area under the Government of India’s PRASAD Scheme during the tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He expressed hope that visits by national leaders to the historic shrine would contribute to the promotion of Tripura’s spiritual tourism and further strengthen the state’s position on India’s tourism and cultural map. FD JK
