Manas Debbarma passes away leaving behind a hoary past

Agartala, Sept 10 (FD) Manas Debbarman (83), a poet literature and a drama personality breathed his last at his Krishnanagar residence here on Monday due to old age related ailments.
He is survived by two daughter and many relatives.
Born in 1942, Debbarma was a prominent poet and a college teacher.
He had his school education in the Umakanta Academy of Agartala and then graduated from acclaimed presidency college of Calcutta. He started his career as an assistant professor in MBB college of Physiology and was popular among the students.
However, he left teaching to become a member of Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC) and after completion of his five years stint he joined UPSC as a member and retired from there only.
He was also a famous story teller and wrote many short stories. In his early life, he was a leftist, but in his later life he joined BJP and was one of the think tanks of the party.
He was also the father of prominent Rabindra Sangeet Singer, Tithi Debbarman. FD JK
