Man arrested for allegedly killing father in drunken rage in Tripura

Agartala, Sep 9 (FD) A tragic incident unfolded when a man named Santosh Das was arrested for allegedly beating his father, Govinda Das, to death in a drunken rage on Wednesday night at Debram Thakurpara. The horrifying episode occurred under the jurisdiction of Bodhjungnagar police station, sending shockwaves through the community.

According to authorities, Santosh Das returned home intoxicated from a neighbour's house and began verbally abusing his family. Govinda Das, in an attempt to maintain order, confronted his son, but this confrontation escalated into a violent altercation. Santosh Das attacked his father with a stick, injuring other family members who tried to intervene.

Law enforcement was swiftly alerted to the situation, and both Govinda Das and Santosh Das were rushed to GB Hospital for medical attention. Tragically, Govinda Das succumbed to his injuries around 2 a.m. on Thursday. His body was later handed over to grieving family members following a post-mortem examination on Friday.

Santosh Das, described as a drug addict with a history of criminal activities, managed to escape from the hospital upon learning of his father's demise. The police have initiated a manhunt to apprehend him, registering a murder case against him at Bodhjungnagar police station. FD SB JK
