Major drug haul: Police seized brown sugar worth Rs 10 crore at Churaibari

Agartala, Aug 21 (FD) Tripura police on Monday seized brown sugar worth Rs 10 crore and arrested three persons at Churaibari, bordering Assam in North Tripura district, police said.
Acting on a tip-off, police stopped a vehicle at the Naka point at Churaibari and conducted an extensive search operation and seized 1 kg 300 gm Heroin, worth Rs. 10 crore and arrested three persons.
Superintendent of police of North Tripura district, Bhanupada Chakraborty said, “We received information that an Agartala bound TATA Sumo vehicle was entering Tripura from Assam with drugs and following a search in the vehicle we could seize 1 kg 300 gm Heroin, worth Rs. 10 crore. The drugs were kept hidden inside the vehicle. Three persons were arrested and details will be available on interrogation of the arrested persons”.
The arrested drug carriers were identified as Abdul Ali, Shaymal Krishna Das and Prasenjit Das, who all hail from Boxanagar block under Sonamura Sub-division of Sepahijala district. FD JK
