Agartala, Nov 16 (FD) The leader of the opposition Leader Jitendra Chowdhury on Saturday slammed the ruling BJP led government in Tripura for deteriorating law and order and failure to handle communal conflict situations in the state.
Addressing a press conference at the party office at Melarmath he said, the saffron party was very fast losing ground among the people of the state on law and order situation and mishandling of the communal conflicts in the state.
Chowdhury said, the saffron party has adopted a tactic of creating divisions among different communities to divert the attention of the people from the real issues.
He alleged that, off late, an incident took place at Kadamtala market in North Tripura district, which could be handled properly. Following a clash between two groups many shops were damaged and the local traders were affected, but the state government could not handle the issue properly.
The party has demanded financial compensation for the affected traders from the government led by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.
A delegation of CPM, comprising former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, leader of the opposition, Jitendra Chowdhury, and senior CPM leaders, had visited Kadamtala market on November 8 to assess the damage. FD JK
