Agartala, July 22 (FD)Ā Longtharai Power Private Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) to set up a solar power plant in the state with a proposed investment of Rs 45 crore.
The agreement was signed during the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026, marking another significant investment in Tripura's renewable energy sector.
The proposed project is aimed at expanding clean energy generation in the state and supporting Tripura's transition towards sustainable and environmentally friendly power infrastructure. The company said the investment reflects its commitment to promoting green energy while contributing to the state's long-term economic and industrial development.
Once commissioned, the solar power plant is expected to generate renewable electricity, reduce carbon emissions, and contribute to India's clean energy and climate goals. The project is also likely to create employment opportunities for local people during both the construction and operational phases.
Apart from generating clean power, the project is expected to strengthen Tripura's energy security by increasing the share of renewable energy in the state's electricity mix, ensuring a more reliable and sustainable power supply to meet future demand.
Longtharai Power Private Limited said renewable energy is not merely an investment in infrastructure but an investment in a sustainable future. The company expressed its commitment to working closely with the Government of Tripura, TSECL and other stakeholders for the timely implementation of the project.
The MoU is expected to further boost Tripura's efforts to attract investments in the renewable energy sector and reinforce the state's vision of achieving cleaner, greener and sustainable development.
