Left Front unveiled poll manifest, 2.5 lakh new jobs every year

Agartala, Feb 3 (FD): The opposition Left Front today announced its manifesto for the sixty-member assembly elections and pledged 2.5 lakh new jobs in next five years and two DA hikes for government employees every year if they can form government in the Feb. 16 elections.
Addressing a press conference at the CPI (M) office here, Left Front convener Narayan Kar alleged that the people’s voices are choked in the state ever since BJP came to power and the seat sharing with the Congress was necessary to oust the autocratic BJP government.
The Left Front promised pension poor to senior citizens and reinstatement of the 10,323 retrenched teachers, regularization of services of contractual employees.
He said the tribal’s of the state, who constitute one third of the state’s population, would be provided with more autonomy and the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) would be empowered properly.
Kar said the irregular and contractual employees would be given permanent jobs and senior citizens, whose annual income of less than Rs 1 lakh will be given social pension.
He said, the Left Front will increase the dearness allowance (DA) of 1, 88,494 government employees and pensioners twice a year based on the consumer price index and a corruption free transparent government would be presented to people.
According to the seat sharing, the Left Front will contest in 46 seats and one seat was allotted to a left supported independent candidate, while Congress will contest in 13 seats. FD JK
