Law and order situation has improved since 2018 in Tripura: Chief Minister

Agartala, Nov 21 (FD) Law and order situation has been improved since 2018 in the state, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha claimed on Sunday.
“A comprehensive review shows that since 2018, there has been a lot of improvement in law and order in the state,” Saha, who is also the home minister of the state made this remark after a review-meeting with the district level police officers.
He said crime related to murder has decreased by 15 percent in the state, crime related to dowry decreased by 10 percent, violence against women decreased by 35 percent. Crimes against women have decreased by 30 percent and eve-teasing by almost 60 percent.
The Chief Minister said that 24x7 Women's Help Desk is operational in 8 Women's Police Stations of the state to combat crime against women. Besides, a 24x7 helpline number- l09 is operational in the state.
Praising the performance of the Tripura Police, Saha said, our forces are at par with other police forces in the country, which has earned considerable reputation outside the state as well. The state ranks fifth in the country in terms of law and order improvement according to the National Crime Records Bureau.
The Chief Minister pointed out that Tripura ranks second among the north-eastern states in the seizure of several intoxicants including drugs.
He also informed reporters that the state has a total of 83 police stations, including female police stations. Besides, there are 5 railway police stations, 35 outposts and about 300 police camps in the state. FD PD JK
