Agartala, July 24 (FD) In a significant development, law enforcement authorities at the Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport in Agartala seized a substantial quantity of cannabis (ganja) on Sunday. 41 kilograms of cannabis were found during routine checks conducted by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
The cannabis packets were believed to be en route to destinations outside the state via air cargo. The booking for this illegal consignment was reportedly made through the Agartala Head Post Office, raising concerns over the involvement of postal services in such illicit activities.
Upon discovery, the police promptly took custody of the 41 packets of cannabis, and the incident has been duly reported to the Head Post Office authorities. However, there were no immediate responses from the post office regarding the matter.
Airport Police Station Officer Subha Rani Teli provided media representatives with detailed information about the cannabis seizure. The confiscated ganja, valued at a significant amount, remains in the custody of the airport police as further investigations into the case continue. FD SB
