Lampa Wathap Festival Celebrated with Grandeur, Showcasing Noatia Culture

Agartala, Feb 6 (FD) The 9th state-level Lampa Wathap Festival, a significant traditional event of the Noatia community, was inaugurated with grandeur at the Garji fairground. Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, who inaugurated the festival, emphasized that festivals are deeply intertwined with religion and traditional culture. The event was organized by the Noatia Hoda Tripura State Committee.
Speaking at the ceremony, the finance minister highlighted that such festivals foster social harmony by bringing together people from different communities. He noted that the Noatia community has been celebrating this festival since the royal era. The government is taking various steps to promote and preserve the traditional culture of tribal communities, he added. Special focus is also being given to education, with initiatives such as establishing residential English medium schools in tribal-dominated areas to ensure quality education for tribal children.
Alongside education and culture, the minister mentioned that the government is working towards the overall development of tribal areas, with emphasis on agriculture, infrastructure, health services, and drinking water facilities.
Addressing the gathering, Cooperative Minister Shuklacharan Noatia reiterated that the government prioritizes the development and promotion of tribal traditions and culture. He noted that people from different tribal communities are now celebrating their festivals with enthusiasm and unity.
The inaugural event was attended by several dignitaries, including Noatia Hoda Advisory Committee Chairman Jankumar Noatia, Noatia Law Committee Chairman Rajendra Lal Noatia, and Ghanaram Noatia. Noatia Hoda Secretary Patal Kumar Noatia delivered the welcome speech, while Chowdhury Uday Singh Noatia presided over the function.
