Agartala, May 14 (FD) Justice Arindam Lodh of High Court of Tripura, emphasized the importance of blood donation during a felicitation program organized by the NGO Roots Parkland.
The event, held on Saturday, witnessed the participation of 36 individuals from various walks of life who donated blood selflessly.
Justice Lodh, attending the camp as the Chief Guest, highlighted that donating blood to save the lives of strangers transcends religious, political, caste, and racial barriers, urging eligible individuals to come forward and contribute.
During the programme, Roots Parkland, known for its philanthropic endeavors and adoption of the village Tulakona for developmental works, also honored three distinguished personalities.
Purnendu Kanti Das, a renowned Chemistry Professor and author of several books, Dr. Gita Debnath, a retired principal of Women's College, and Asit Bhowmik, a retired Chief Engineer, were felicitated for their significant contributions in their respective fields.
Additionally, Roots Parkland, actively engaged in addressing environmental concerns, released a booklet shedding light on the alarming issue of uncontrolled garbage dumping and pollution in rivers across the state.
Justice Lodh unveiled the booklet, which will be subsequently submitted to the Chief Secretary of Tripura, with the aim of prompting necessary actions from the state government.
The felicitation program witnessed the presence of notable guests, including Dr. Tarun Guha, a renowned ENT surgeon, Jayanta Bhattacharya, president of the Agartala Press Club, and veteran journalist Manas Pal.
Bhattacharya, in his speech, emphasized the need for proactive measures from civil society to combat river pollution and prevent further damage.
Overall, the event highlighted the significance of blood donation and recognized individuals making noteworthy contributions in various fields, while also addressing critical environmental concerns in Tripura. FD PD
