Agartala, May 27 (FD) The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court, as the next Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court.
Justice Singh, the 8th Chief Justice of Tripura High Court, originally hails from the Jharkhand High Court. Since his appointment in Tripura, he has played a key role in strengthening the legal system in the state through his vast judicial experience and commitment to constitutional principles.
This recommendation comes as part of a nationwide judicial reshuffle initiated by the Supreme Court Collegium, led by Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai. Other members of the five-judge collegium include Justices Surya Kant, Vikram Nath, J.K. Maheshwari, and B.V. Nagarathna. The team reportedly spent over five hours in deliberation before finalizing the list of recommendations.
The reshuffle includes the elevation of three judges to the Supreme Court, appointment of five new High Court Chief Justices, and transfer of four Chief Justices along with 22 High Court judges.
Among other major recommendations, Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan of Himachal Pradesh High Court has been proposed as Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court. Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva has been recommended as Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court following Justice Suresh Kumar Kait’s retirement.
Additionally, Justice Vibhu Bakhru of the Delhi High Court has been recommended as Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court, replacing Justice N.V. Anjaria, who has been proposed for elevation to the Supreme Court. Justice Ashutosh Kumar is recommended for Gauhati High Court, and Justice Vipul Manubhai Pancholi for Patna High Court.
These appointments aim to enhance judicial efficiency and maintain consistency in the Indian judiciary. FD JK
