Agartala, Dec 21 (FD) The leader of the opposition of Tripura and the Secretary of the CPI-M, Jitendra Chowdhury Saturday criticized the present functioning of the North Eastern Council, the plenary session of which started here today.
“When the NEC was formed, it was meant for critical infrastructure building in difficult places. Like in Khathlang or in Bhandarima, in those remote places roads could not be built with the money of the general budget in the state then NEC budget was spent for creating those critical infrastructures, but the situation has changed now”, he told reporters.
Chowdhury said, “Now, what they do is organizing some fairs or making Nasa mukta centres. We are not against these, but NEC fund is not for these”.
He also criticized Amit Shah for his critical comment in the parliament on Baba Saheb Ambedkar.
“Actually when India got freedom then RSS announced that they do not abide by this constitution or accept this flag of India. However, now they go to salute Ambedkar for show. When there is any truth inside the mind that must prevail. So the truth has come out”, Chowdhury said.
He further said that they have announced for ‘one country, one vote’ and tabled a bill for on it, but sent it to the joint account committee for review. FD JK
