Agartala, Nov 15 (FD) Along with other parts of the country, Janajatiya Gaurav Diwas to commemorate the birth anniversary of great tribal freedom fighter- Bhagwan Birsa Munda was observed at Dashamighat ground in Ambassa of Dhalai district on Tuesday.
Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways- Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated the state-level programme in presence of Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and other dignitaries.
The Union Minister along with the Chief Minister unveiled a statue of Bhagwan Birsa Munda at Banabithi Park in Khowai in presence of Union Minister of State Pratima Bhowmik, Information and Culture Minister Sushanta Chowdhury and others.
Addressing the event, the Union Minister said that Narendra Modi is the only Prime Minister of the country who has given due respect to the people of the nation.
“Modiji is working to ensure development in every corner of the country with the mantra of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Biswas, Sabka Prayas'," Sonowal said.
He said, be it education, innovation, agriculture, tourism, entrepreneurship, healthcare or any other sector, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working to build 'Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat' by bringing together 130 crore citizens from Jammu and Kashmir to Kanyakumari, Arunachal Pradesh to Gujarat.
The Union Minister said that the Dr. Manik Saha-led government in Tripura is also working in the same direction. He urged everyone to be united to strengthen the development of Tripura.
Addressing the programme, Dr. Saha Said, the present state government took several initiatives for the socio-economic development of the Janajati people.
He said, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Janajati communities are now connected with the mainstream development.
A new scheme for Janajati development was announced in the programme.
The scheme included Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP), to be funded by World Bank.
MP Rebati Tripura, Janajati Welfare minister Rampada Jamatia, Urban Development minister Manoj Kanti Deb, BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee, chairman of Indian Tourism Development Corporation and BJP’s NE coordinator- Dr. Sambit Patra, MLA Sabmhulal Chakma, Secretary of Tribal Welfare department- L.T. Darlong, District Magistrate, Dhalai- Siddhartha Shiv Jaiswal and Superintendent of Police, Dhalai- Ramesh Yadav were present.
Krishna Debnath, who made the statue, was felicitated in the programme. Besides, some veteran citizens were also honoured in the programme. FD
