Jal Jeevan Mission covers 54% rural households in supplying drinking water

Agartala, 12 Sept (FD) 54 percent rural households have been provided with drinking water supply under Jal Jeevan Mission, said Drinking Water and Sanitation (DWS) Minister Sushanta Chowdhury has said.
State has been successful in providing potable water supply to 3 lakh 95 thousand houses from the target of 7 lakh 42 thousand rural households. The target of covering 80% households is set until December, minister told reporters at the civil secretariat on Friday last.
He also said that the central government will soon allot another 100 crore rupees for the project.
The DWS minister said that arrangements have been made to adopt innovative schemes such as DTW, SBDTW and methods of water conservation.
Sushanta Chowdhury extended his gratitude to the officials of the drinking water and sanitation department.
The press conference was also attended by the state government secretary Pradip Kumar Chakraborty. FD DM JK
