ISL 2024-25: Punjab FC go down to nine-men Kerala Blasters

In Indian Super League Football, Kerala Blasters defeated Punjab FC 1-0 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi last night. Punjab FC dominated possession but failed to convert it into meaningful chances in the first 20 minutes. Noah Sadaoui’s 44th-minute penalty made the difference for the Blasters. Kerala Blasters held firm despite being reduced to nine men by the end of the match as Milos Drincic received a second yellow card in the 58th minute and Aiban Dohling got a straight red in the 74th minute. With this victory, Kerala Blasters are now ninth-placed. On the other hand, Punjab FC suffered their fourth consecutive defeat and remains in the eighth position with 18 points.
East Bengal FC will take on Mumbai City FC at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata, this evening. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:30 pm IST. Mumbai City FC have slipped to the seventh place in the standings, garnering 20 points from 13 matches. East Bengal FC, on the other hand, have secured 14 points, positioned 11th in the table.
ISL 2024-25 features 13 teams. The league phase will conclude on 12th March. Dates for playoffs will be announced later. Launched in 2014, the ISL is India’s top-tier professional football league. It has a regular season followed by playoffs, culminating in a final to determine the champion.
