Indian Women’s Table Tennis Team Advances to Quarterfinals at Paris Olympics After Thrilling 3-2 Victory Over Romania

At Paris olympics, in table tennis team event, Indian women including Manika Batra, Sreeja Akula, and Archana Kamath beat the Romanian team by 3-2 in the pre-quarterfinal match. With this win, they have qualified for the quarterfinal.

But this success didn’t replicate in the shooting event as Indian pair Anant Jeet Singh Naruka and Maheshwari Chauhan failed to keep up the pace with the top 4, so chances of a medal in the Skeet Mixed Team event are over.  Finally shooting contingent ended its campaign at the Olympics with a total haul of 3 Bronze medals. 

Now the focus is now on shuttler Lakshya Sen who will aim to add a fourth medal to India’s tally as he will take on Malaysia’s Zii Jia Lee in the bronze medal match of the men’s singles event, at 6 PM, Indian time. 

In athletics, India will be represented by two athletes, Kiran Pahal, who will compete in the women’s 400m round 1, and Asian Games gold medallist Avinash Sable, who will strive to qualify for the 3000m steeplechase final, later in the day.

In wrestling, Nisha Dahiya will kick off India’s campaign in the women’s 68kg freestyle pre-quarters.

In sailing, Vishnu Saravanan will continue his campaigns in the men’s and and Nethra Kumanan will compete in women’s dinghy events.
