In Cricket, veteran Indian pacer Mohammad Shami will be rested for Bengal’s Vijay Hazare Trophy opener against Delhi in Hyderabad tomorrow. The Cricket Association of Bengal announced the decision yesterday.
Shami, who last played for India at the 2023 ODI World Cup, recently returned from ankle surgery with an impressive performance in Bengal’s Ranji Trophy win over Madhya Pradesh, taking seven wickets. He also picked up nine wickets in 11 games during the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy.
After the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series at the Gabba in Brisbane ended in a rain-hit draw, India skipper Rohit Sharma said Shami’s fitness for joining the team on a tour of Australia hinges on clearance by the National Cricket Academy.
