Defending champions India have stormed into the men’s kabaddi semi-finals with a convincing 37-21 victory over Chinese Taipei in their final Group A fixture. India dominated from the outset, taking a commanding 23-11 lead at half-time and maintaining their advantage in the second half, which they won 14-10.
The victory was India’s fourth consecutive win in the group stage. India had earlier defeated South Korea, Japan and Bangladesh to finish the group stage unbeaten and secure at least a bronze medal. India scored 28 points through successful raids, three bonus points and six points from all-outs in the match. Kabaddi has been a part of the Asian Games since 1990, and the Indian men’s team has won nine medals, including eight golds.
Meanwhile, the Indian women’s team also continued its winning campaign, defeating Iran 37-23 after beating Bangladesh in its opening match. The women’s team will next face hosts Japan in their Group A fixture.
