India-Bangladesh road and rail connectivity set to be inaugurated in September

Agartala, Aug 18 (FD) In a significant stride towards bolstering bilateral ties, India and Bangladesh are gearing up to inaugurate two major road and rail connectivity projects in September.
The eagerly anticipated developments are expected to enhance passenger movement and trade between the two neighbouring nations.
The highly anticipated inauguration of the Maitry Setu, a crucial road link between India and Bangladesh, is slated to commence on September 1.
According to sources, preparations are in full swing for the opening of this bridge, symbolising the friendship between the two countries.
Officials on both sides have been diligently reviewing the progress to ensure a seamless commencement of operations. Notably, Bangladesh's interest in unveiling the road connection ahead of its parliamentary election adds a political dimension to the event.
Regarding the Agartala-Akhaura rail connection, sources hint at a partial inauguration on September 9. While official statements are awaited from the respective governments, it is noted that the General Manager of the North East Frontier Railway, Chetan Kumar Srivastava, is scheduled to visit Agartala on September 22. During his visit, he is expected to confer with Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, possibly leading to a formal announcement.
Formal announcements are expected to follow a crucial meeting scheduled for September 22, during which the General Manager of the North East Frontier Railway, Chetan Kumar Srivastava, is set to confer with Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha in Agartala.
