The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that the ongoing heat wave conditions across northwest India are expected to abate from April 10. As per the IMD, heat wave conditions are currently affecting several regions including parts of Saurashtra, Kutch, Vidarbha, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi. These intense temperatures are likely to continue over Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat until tomorrow.
In contrast, the northeastern region of the country is likely to receive heavy rainfall today, particularly in Assam and Meghalaya. The IMD has issued warnings of light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of up to 50 kilometers per hour. These weather conditions are expected to persist over East and Northeast India till April 12.
Southern states are also forecasted to witness similar weather patterns. The IMD has predicted scattered rainfall and thunderstorms today over parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Telangana, and Karnataka.
The mixed forecast highlights both relief from extreme heat in some regions and the onset of pre-monsoon showers in others. Residents are advised to stay updated with local weather bulletins and take necessary precautions.
