The skies over the picturesque Umiam Lake in Meghalaya were painted red with the Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) of the India air force (IAF) displaying breathtaking manoeuvres grabbing the eyeballs of spectators on March 8.
The scintillating display by the IAF’s famous nine-aircraft SKAT projected professionalism and precision – the two hallmarks of the force. Along with SKAT, Sukhoi-30 MKI, Rafale and Chetak/ Cheetah Helicopters also performed during the air show.
Meghalaya governor Phagu Chauhan witnessed the air show along with chief minister Conrad Sangma and several civil and military dignitaries and students.
“The air show has demonstrated the capability and skill that our air warriors have, it is second to none and therefore it’s a proud moment for every Indian,” said Sangma.
“I would like to really express my thanks to them and also to let them know that every citizen of this country is proud of them and for the sacrifices that they made and for the commitment that they have shown towards the people and the nation as a whole,” he said.
