Husband of Panchayat Chief in Sonamura absconded after kidnapping two youths from Assam

Agartala, Mar 7 (FD) Husband of a BJP led Panchayats Pradhan in Sonamura in Sepahijala district is now absconded after kidnapping two youths from Assam.
Police said they could arrest two brother in-laws of the Panchayat pradhan in connection with the kidnapping, who would be produced before a court.
One Abul Kalam, who is known in Sonamura for his notoriety and husband of Nasima Begum, the Pradhan of the Kalabari Panchayat had brought two youths from the minority community in Assam assuring them of helping in smuggling drugs.
But, when they landed at Sonamura Kalam kidnapped them and demanded Rs. one crore from their relatives. The relatives then lodged an FIR in Assam and the Assam police alerted police from Sonamura.
Police launched a search operation and managed to rescue the kidnapped persons and arrested the brother-in-laws, identified as Manik Mia and Ripon Mia.
Police said they were informed by appropriate sources that Kalam has illegally crossed the border and left for Cumilla district of neighbouring Bangladesh. Police said they have alerted BSF to take up the matter with the BGB for his recovery. FD JK
