Husband gets life imprisonment for killing wife

Agartala, Jan 21 (FD) Ratan Debnath himself killed his wife with an axe and the judge condemned him. Under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Court, he faces further imprisonment for 2 (two) years and a monetary fine of Rs. 10, 000 (Case No.: ST. (T/1) 115 (2021). The Honorable Additional District and Sessions Judge of West District (Court No. 2), Govind Das, delivered this judgment today. In this case, there were 26 total witnesses for the prosecution, out of which 23 were from the prosecution. The Honorable Court accepted the evidence and convicted the accused Ratan Debnath on the basis of eyewitness and circumstantial evidence of the murder and sentenced him to life under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. Section 324 ordered the offender to undergo imprisonment for a further 2 years and to pay a fine of Rs. 20, 000/- (ten thousand). After fining the money, the honorable court sentenced the defendant to another six (h) months in prison for nonpayment.
According to the details of the incident, on April 15, 2021, at around 8:30 in the morning, the accused Ratan Debnath, a resident of Tulakona village, was cutting wood with an axe on one side of the yard, while his wife Pratima Debnath and Pratima Debnath's son-in-law went to the neighboring house to sing. Ratan Debnath forbids him to go to the neighboring house to eat food, and when he talks about doing things behind the house, Pratima Debnath and his son's daughter-in-law come from the neighboring house to hear the process. After the bath, the son's wife went to takhur house to perform pooja, and when the said idol, Debnath, went to the kitchen, the accused Ratan Debnath hit him with an ax, and he fell to the ground bleeding immediately. When he was taken to the hospital, the doctor declared him dead. While taking Pratima Debnath out of the house, the accused, Ratan Debnath, washed his blood-stained axe with water to kill the witness. Criminal Ratan Debnath's younger brother and others took the axe away from him. It is revealed that the said Ratan Debnath often viewed his wife suspiciously and suspected her of having an illicit relationship.
The investigating officer in this case was SI Mithun Saha. The investigating officer, Mithun Saha, took all the evidence and submitted the charge sheet to the honorable court under Section 3 of the Indian Penal Code. But the Honorable Court framed the charge under Sections 302 and 624 of the Indian Penal Code. The case was prosecuted for the government by Shri Biswajit Dev Public Prosecutor West District. FD SB
