Home Minister Amit Shah unveils multiple development projects worth over Rs 800 crore in Bihar

Union Home and Cooperative Minister Amit Shah dedicated to the nation and laid the foundation stone of several development projects and schemes worth over 800 crore rupees in Bihar. Speaking on the occasion on Sunday, Mr Shah praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for establishing a dedicated Ministry of Cooperation, emphasizing the sector’s growth after 75 years of Independence. The Minister was addressing the gathering at the inaugural session of the Cooperative Conclave in Patna. He credited the cooperative and agriculture sectors for reaching new heights.
He hit out at RJD Chief and former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad, alleging mismanagement during his tenure that led to the closure of sugar mills in Bihar. Mr Shah pointed out that Bihar’s share in the country’s sugar production had dropped from 30 per cent to just 6 per cent under RJD Chief Lalu Prasad’s rule and promised to revive the state’s sugar mills. He also assured that the Centre is committed to Bihar’s development, with initiatives like the creation of the Makhana Board.
The Union Minister highlighted Bihar’s potential, noting its fertile land, and emphasized the state’s ability to benefit greatly from cooperative schemes.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for the financial assistance announced in the Union Budgets 2024-25 and 2025-26 and praised the approval of key infrastructure projects like the Kosi-Mechi River Link.
Union Minister Amit Shah today launched various initiatives including, laying the foundation stones for 133 police buildings, costing 181 crore rupees, and three road transport and national highway projects worth 109 crore rupees. He also distributed micro ATMs to ‘bank mitras’ of the Bihar State Cooperative Bank at the state-level conference attended by representatives from primary agriculture cooperatives and other cooperative societies. The Minister launched schemes, comprising 111 crore rupees from the cooperative department and 421 crore rupees from the urban development and housing department.
Later in the day, Mr Shah is scheduled to address a public meeting in Gopalganj and hold a meeting with NDA leaders in Patna to discuss preparations for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
