Agartala, Nov 9 (FD) Holy Cross College, Agartala, celebrated its Thirteenth Graduation Day on November 9, 2024, with a grand ceremony held at the open stage of the Jubatara campus, Lembucherra. The event, which began at 10:00 a.m., marked a significant milestone as over 400 graduates were honored for their achievements in both undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
The ceremony commenced with an introductory session led by the Masters of Ceremony, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing the beginning of the event. Rev. Fr. Dr. Benny K. John, CSC, Principal of Holy Cross College, warmly welcomed the graduating class and esteemed guests. His speech underscored the college’s commitment to academic excellence and community values. Adding a traditional touch, students Moumita and Shreyashi performed a vibrant welcome dance.
The faculty message was delivered by Ms. Tapashi Saha, Head of the Department of Teacher Education, who spoke on behalf of the faculty, acknowledging the hard work and dedication of the graduates. Rev. Fr. Abraham K.J., CSC, President of the Holy Cross Educational Foundation, gave the Presidential Address, offering his heartfelt congratulations and encouraging the graduates to carry forward their values and learning into the world.
A highlight of the event was the cultural performance by David and his group, who presented a traditional Mamita dance, celebrating the cultural heritage of the region. Graduates Sangita Neogi and Pohor Debbarma, representing the Class of 2023-2024, shared their memorable experiences and gratitude toward the faculty and staff who guided them.
The Commencement Speech was delivered by the Chief Guest, Prof. Ganga Prasad Prasain, Vice Chancellor of Tripura University, who inspired the graduates to uphold integrity and compassion in their future careers. His message emphasized the importance of education and resilience.
The distribution of medals and certificates was the event’s pinnacle, with five rank holders from Sociology, Business Administration, and Commerce receiving special recognition for their academic excellence in the university’s sixth-semester exams. This year also saw the graduation of the inaugural postgraduate batches from the Departments of English and Political Science.
Dr. Sharmistha Rakshit, Convener of the College Graduation Day Committee, concluded the ceremony with a heartfelt vote of thanks, acknowledging everyone who contributed to the event’s success. The celebration ended with the National Anthem, marking a memorable chapter for the graduates as they embark on their new journey.
