High-Level Task Force Charts Strategic Investment Roadmap for North East

Agartala, Apr 7 (FD) In a significant step toward boosting economic development in India’s northeastern states, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha chaired the first meeting of the High-Level Task Force on Investment Promotion virtually on Monday. The task force, constituted by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) on March 15, 2025, aims to make the region a preferred destination for domestic and international investments.
The decision to form the task force was taken during the 72nd Plenary session of the North Eastern Council (NEC) held in Agartala in December 2024. Dr. Saha, appointed as the convener of the task force, led the meeting wh
ich was attended by Union Minister of DoNER Jyotiraditya Scindia, Chief Ministers Neiphiu Rio (Nagaland), Conrad Sangma (Meghalaya), and Prem Singh Tamang (Sikkim), along with other senior officials.
During the meeting, a comprehensive discussion was held on relevant issues affecting investment and infrastructure in the region. The leaders resolved to prepare a strategic roadmap focused on attracting investments, improving connectivity, and creating employment opportunities.
Dr. Saha emphasized the collaborative spirit among the Centre and state governments in driving economic progress in the North East, which is known for its cultural diversity and ecological richness. The task force aims to build investor confidence through policy reforms, promotion campaigns, and region-specific investment incentives.
This meeting marks a renewed commitment to unlocking the economic potential of the North Eastern Region through focused planning and inter-governmental cooperation. FD SB
