Amarpur, Aug 23 (FD) Health Secretary Kiran Gitte emphasized the modernization and digitalization of healthcare services during his visit to Amarpur Subdivisional Hospital, underlining the state government’s objective of ensuring quality medical facilities are available closer to people living in remote and rural areas.
During his visit, Gitte inspected different wards of the hospital and reviewed the existing healthcare infrastructure and services. He was accompanied by Director of Health Services Dr. Debashree Debbarma, Gomati District Magistrate Rinku Lather, Chief Medical Officer of Gomati district Dr. Kamal Reang and other senior officials.
Speaking to the media after the inspection, the Health Secretary said that the infrastructure and medical facilities at Amarpur Subdivisional Hospital have improved significantly over the past several years. He noted that while medical tests were earlier conducted largely through outside agencies, most diagnostic services are now available within the hospital.
The hospital currently has facilities including digital X-ray, ultrasonography, UGC, an advanced operation theatre and modern treatment services for mothers and children. Machinery required for Thyroid and CBC tests is also expected to become operational soon.
Gitte said seven doctors are presently serving at the hospital. He assured that the demand for specialists, including an anesthesiologist, medicine specialist, orthopedic specialist and additional junior doctors, would be placed before Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha for consideration.
Around 150 patients visit the hospital’s outdoor section every day, while approximately 30 to 40 patients are referred to Udaipur or the district hospital every month. The Health Secretary said the department aims to reduce these referrals to zero by further strengthening infrastructure and specialist services, allowing residents of remote areas to receive treatment closer to home.
He also highlighted the need for an adequate blood supply to ensure uninterrupted operation theatre and emergency services. Gitte appealed to local clubs, social organizations and villagers to organize voluntary blood donation camps to maintain sufficient blood stocks.
Another major focus of the visit was the introduction of digital and paperless healthcare services at Amarpur hospital on the lines of Civil Hospital in Agartala. The Integrated Health Management System and Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) have already been introduced as part of efforts to make healthcare services faster, easier and fully digital.
In the coming days, patients are expected to receive doctors’ prescriptions, X-ray and other test reports, as well as discharge certificates, through email. According to the Health Secretary, the system will help save both time and money for patients.
Following the inspection, Director of Health Services Dr. Debashree Debbarma held a review meeting with CMO Dr. Kamal Reang, SDMO (Udaipur) Dr. Biswajit Debnath, doctors and programme managers. She said efforts would be made to further improve healthcare delivery in accordance with the Health Secretary’s directions.
She also informed that water connection work for the newly constructed staff quarters would soon be completed, after which the quarters would be handed over to the concerned staff. Dr. Debbarma appreciated the doctors and health workers for their dedicated service and for maintaining uninterrupted healthcare services even during holidays. FD SB
