Agartala, Sep 28 (FD) From a superficial stance, Durga Puja is a religious festival for the Hindus but the festival carries emotions of unity and brotherhood among Bengalees s
ince ages. It is a reprieve of four days, where people from all religion, class and caste come together to celebrate, putting aside all the barriers that separate them.
After two years of COVID 19 pandemic, the preparation of Durga Puja is in full spirit. Ramthakur Sangha is one such club with a wonderful reputation of showcasing their artistic temperament and eye-catching themes. This year, their theme is based on the 2000 years old Somnath temple.
Vice president Ashish Bhattacharya said, “Not every person from the nook and corner of the state is aware of India’s rich heritage and culture. And since we are believers of Sanatana dharma and people aren’t able to travel much in the last few years. Also for senior citizens who cannot travel much, we want to bring the people to the Somnath temple or at least provide an inspired structure of the rich heritage site in the form of a durga puja pandal.”
Bhattacharya also said, “In the last two years of covid 19 pandemic, we members have assimilated funds ourselves to celebrate durga puja. This year, our plans are big. Our Budget is almost 40 lacs. We have collected funds from the locals and the donations from the members are much higher than last year.”
The club has hired popular decorators from Nabadwip and artists from Kolkata who have a long standing reputation in winning many prizes.
The vice president expressed that their aim is providing satisfaction to the devotees and hence have decided to employ necessary measures to maintain the crowd, distributing Prasad among devotees and providing charities to the needy. FD DM
