Agartala, Aug 27 (FD) In a bid to enhance healthcare facilities in Tripura, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha announced the state's intention to establish a medical institution modeled after the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Imphal.
Addressing the foundation day of Tripura Medical College, Saha revealed that the government is actively advocating with the Centre for the creation of a healthcare facility akin to the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) in Shillong or RIMS in Imphal.
The state is rapidly evolving into a medical hub, with plans to commence the functioning of a dental medical college in the current academic session. Additionally, a new medical college is slated for establishment in Ambassa, within the Dhalai district. The opening of nine specialty departments at GBP Hospital and Agartala Govt Medical College has substantially reduced the need for patient referrals, marking a significant improvement in local healthcare.
Chief Minister Saha also highlighted the state's augmented budget allocation for healthcare services, including the setup of 'Level 3' trauma centers in various district hospitals. Dharmanagar hospital is poised to host the next such facility. These developments underscore Tripura's commitment to bolster its healthcare infrastructure and elevate medical services for its residents.
