Agartala, Aug 5 (FD) Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu has urged the youth, health workers, public representatives, and citizens to actively participate in making every Panchayat in the state TB-free, reaffirming the collective responsibility of society in eliminating tuberculosis from Tripura and the country.
The Governor made these remarks while inaugurating an awareness workshop under the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan at Pragna Bhavan on Wednesday morning. The programme was jointly organized by the Regional Institute of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology (RIPSAT), the Health and Family Welfare Department, and the National Health Mission (NHM).
Addressing the gathering, Governor Nallu said that the fight against tuberculosis is not only a challenge for the medical fraternity but also a reflection of the nation's collective will, social unity, and commitment to safeguarding the health and well-being of every citizen. He emphasized that achieving a TB-free Tripura requires coordinated efforts from all sections of society.
The Governor highlighted that the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan is aimed at strengthening the identification of TB patients, ensuring timely diagnosis, and improving treatment facilities, particularly for workers engaged in high-risk professions. He reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of building a TB-free India and stated that the Tripura Government is fully committed to supporting this national mission.
Calling the elimination of tuberculosis a shared responsibility, Governor Nallu appealed to health workers, elected representatives, educational institutions, and the public to contribute actively towards making every Panchayat TB-free.
During the programme, the Governor officially launched the TB-Mukt Bharat Abhiyan App, which is expected to enhance monitoring, awareness, and coordination under the campaign. He also distributed nutritious food kits to selected TB patients as part of the nutritional support initiative and felicitated Nikshay Mitras with certificates for their contribution towards supporting TB patients.
Organizations including NEEPCO, NEDFI, and the Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura were also honoured for their support to the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
Director of Family Welfare and Preventive Medicines and State TB Officer Nupur Debbarma delivered a detailed presentation on the campaign, while several cured TB patients shared their experiences to inspire awareness and encourage timely treatment. The programme was also attended by Director of Health and Family Welfare Dr. Anjan Das, NHM Joint Mission Director Jubili Debbarma, and RIPSAT Acting Principal Dr. Hrishiraj Chhetri, who delivered the welcome address.
According to information shared by the Lok Bhavan, the awareness workshop reaffirmed the state's commitment to achieving the goal of a TB-free Tripura through public participation, improved healthcare services, and sustained awareness initiatives. FD SB
