Governor advocates women's empowerment, equal rights at Khowai celebration

Agartala, Mar 8 (FD) Governor Indrasena Reddy Nannu inaugurated the International Women's Day celebration at Khowai Town Hall, organized by the Khowai district administration. Addressing the gathering, he emphasized that women deserve equal rights, power, and opportunities in society.
He noted that history and scriptures portray women as pillars of strength, playing crucial roles in shaping society. He further highlighted that the Indian Constitution provides multiple provisions for women’s empowerment, urging the younger generation to be aware of them. He also mentioned government schemes aimed at women’s development and self-sufficiency.
Chief Whip of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, Kalyani Saha Roy, called for greater female participation in eradicating child marriage, eliminating the dowry system, and building a drug-free Tripura. She encouraged women to set goals and actively contribute in all sectors.
Other dignitaries, including Khowai Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Aparna Singha Roy, Khowai Municipal Council Chairman Debashish Nath Sharma, and Officer-in-Charge of Khowai Women's Police Station, Meena Debbarma, also addressed the event.
Khowai District Magistrate Rajat Panth delivered the welcome speech. A documentary on women's empowerment was screened, and outstanding women from Khowai district were honored for their contributions. FD SB
