In chess, the quarter-finals of the Freestyle Chess Grand Slam are currently underway in Weissenhaus, Germany. India’s reigning World Chess Champion, D. Gukesh, faces Italian-American grandmaster Fabiano Caruana in this crucial match.

Gukesh, who has yet to secure a victory in Weissenhaus, is playing with the white pieces against Caruana, who finished third in the Round Robin stage. The two players had previously drawn in their encounter on Saturday.

Despite a loss to Norway’s Magnus Carlsen, the world’s highest-rated player, in the final round of the qualifiers, Gukesh managed to progress to the next stage of the tournament.
