Agartala, Sep 03 (FD) Former Chief Minister and CPI (M) politburo member Manik Sarkar has rallied the people of Dhanpur and Boxanagar constituencies, calling upon them to secure victory for CPI (M) candidates in the upcoming by-elections on September 5. Sarkar's message extends beyond the state, aiming at paving the way for the ouster of the BJP from the Centre in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Sarkar addressed gatherings in Monaipathar and Bhawanipore within the Dhanpur assembly constituency, urging people to be fearless and to seek assistance from security forces if faced with resistance from BJP miscreants on their way to polling centers. He stressed the importance of ensuring voters' safe return home, in line with the Election Commission's directives.
Manik Sarkar, who represented the Dhanpur assembly constituency for five terms from 1998 to 2018, highlighted that the victory of left candidates would signify people responding to the 28-party alliance's call to oust the BJP and save the country. He cited his direct experience of the suffering of people in border areas and emphasized the need for smooth voting to ensure the left's victory, noting that residents had decided to vote for left candidates.
The victory of left candidates, Sarkar believes, is a reflection of people's determination to vote for the left, signaling potential political shifts in Tripura. FD SB
