Agartala, Aug 19 (FD) Five militants of outlawed National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) BM group have surrendered to police at Chhawmanu, in Tripura’s Dhalai district, police said today.
The ultras, which have been undergoing training at Silachhari camp in Chittagong Hill Tract (CHT) of neighboring Bangladesh, had fled from there and did not deposit any arm or ammunition, Superintendent of Police, Dhalai, Avinesh Kumar Rai told reporters.
The ultras were identified as Kanta Mohan Tripura (45), Nakshatra Debbarma (32), Emang Debbarma (20), Getajoy Tripura (23) and Mansubar Tripura (25) and surrendered to the intelligence wing of police on Friday.
“The ultras were the trainees of the outlawed outfit and decamped from there. Intelligence agencies of our department contacted them and finally surrendered to police”, Rai said.
He said that the insurgents were facing acute crisis of food and fund and were on the run due to the raid of the security forces in the neighboring country.
“Hardly there is 15/20 insurgence and their full strength would be known after thorough interrogation”, the police official said. FD JK
