Five Indian touts facilitating infiltration arrested

Agartala, April 22 (FD) Five Indian touts, who facilitate infiltration of Bangladeshis and Rohingya Muslims from the neighbouring country were arrested on Tuesday, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, a combined force of Agartala General Railway Police Service (GRPS), BSF personnel and Tripura police raided a few border villages at the outskirts of Agartala and arrested five Indian touts.

The combined force arrested Suman Das (39) and Rahul Das (27) from Shanmura, Biswajit Das (49) and Animesh Sarkar (39) from Das para and Juwel Sarkar of Lankamura.

 Sources in GRP said that the Indian touts in connivance with the Bangladeshi touts facilitate the infiltration adding that since issuance of Visa for the Bangladeshis have been restricted they are desperate to enter into the Indian territory by any means.

All the arrested persons were handed over to the West Agartala police station, who would be produced before a court on Wednesday and the police would seek for their police remand for five days.

Police said there are many cases pending against them under foreigner act and illegal trafficking act. FD JK
