Fish in formalin: Special team formed to examine presence of fish in Tripura, Fisheries Minister

Agartala, Aug 03 (FD) Amid soaring fish prices, the State fisheries Minister have taken a decisive step to tackle the issue head-on. A formidable team has been formed to monitor prices and ensure fish sold in markets are free from harmful substances like formalin.

The Minister's office confirmed that a letter has been sent to the Principal Secretary of the Fisheries Department, B. S. Mishra, outlining their action plan.

According to the Minister, complaints of formalin usage have been reported in the past, prompting them to take strict measures this time.

The specialized team, accompanied by the police, is all set to make surprise visits to markets, ensuring a peaceful inspection process.

The use of formalin in fish has garnered attention even in the assembly, where concerned voices demanded action. With this vigilant team in action, consumers can now expect fresher and safer fish options at reasonable prices. FD SB FD
