Agartala, May 7 (FD) The first group of people, including a good number of students from Tripura who were stranded in riot hit Manipur due to ongoing unrest, arrived in Agartala by a special Indigo flight safely on Saturday night.
Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury along with two general secretaries of BJP- Amit Rakshit and Papiya Dutta were present at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport here to receive them.
Later on Sunday morning, Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on a social media post assured that the remaining people who still stranded in Manipur would be brought in Tripura gradually.
“Happy to see the 1st group of people arrived from Manipur safely. Gradually, all the persons stranded there will be brought back,” Dr Saha wrote.
In the same post, he also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Saha and Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh for their constant support.
“I thank our PM Narendra Modi ji, HM Amit Shah ji, CAM Jyotiraditya M Scindia ji & CM-Manipur N.Biren Singh Ji for the constant support,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, the second flight carrying the students studying in Manipur arrived in the state on Sunday.
State BJP IT Convener Chandan Debnath, Social Media Convener Arindam Deb along with government officials were present at MBB Airport today to welcome them.
Earlier on Saturday, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has said that the students stranded in riot hit Manipur are completely safe and the state government has arranged special flights for the students to return to their home state.
Saha said he had spoken to Singh, who assured him that the students studying in Manipur are completely safe and adequate arrangement for their safety and security was arranged by the Manipur government.
Meanwhile, Tipra Motha Supremo and royal scion, Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma had also contributed in the rescue operation with providing plane tickets to 50 students who wanted to return Tripura from the riot hit state.
“I have taken the entire cost of their journey from my personal side. In hard times it's important to stand by our people,” he said in a social media post on Saturday.
In another post on Sunday morning, Debbarma said, “I will be going to the Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport to receive the students who have been helped by us to leave from Manipur today. These students have been through a lot and I am happy I could help them. In future if required I will do the same #Thansa4Ever.” FD PD
