Father-daughter duo arrested for Cyber Fraud in North Tripura, First-of-its-kind case

Agartala, Jul 02 (FD) In a startling case of cybercrime, the North Tripura Police have apprehended three individuals, including a father and his daughter, for perpetrating a fraud of Rs 3.5 lakh on the pretext of conducting a Corona Vaccination Survey.
The accused, identified as Laxmi Gour, Mithu Gour, and Gautam Biswas, all residents of Khupatilla under Baruakandi Village in Dharmanagar, managed to deceive two prominent businessmen, Satya Ranjan Nath of Kadamtala and Sandip Deb of Premtala Village. Superintendent of Police (SP) Bhanupada Chakraborty confirmed that the police are actively investigating the case.
According to the victims, Satya Ranjan Nath from Kadamtala and Sandip Deb from Premtala Village, both well-known businessmen in their locality, they were approached by a man and a young girl who claimed to be conducting a survey on Corona vaccination. Requesting various personal details, the perpetrators cleverly managed to acquire an OTP (One-Time Password) and subsequently syphoned off Rs 2.70 lakh from Nath's bank account and Rs 82,000 from Deb's account.
The victims realised the deception only after the fraudsters had left the premises. After promptly reporting the incidents, both victims sought police intervention, and the matter is currently under investigation. FD SB
