External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar stated that it is not possible to have a normal relationship with Pakistan until there is a departure from the policy of cross-border terrorism. Briefing media on nine years of the Modi government in New Delhi yesterday, he added that India will not allow terrorism to become a basis for getting into discussion with Pakistan. Speaking on the country's relationship with Canada, the Minister alleged that they seem to be driven by vote-bank politics.
He also said that if there are activities in Canada that impinge on India's national security and integrity then India will have to respond. The Minister informed that India's relations with Russia have been kept steady despite all turbulence. Speaking on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visit to the United States, Dr. Jaishankar referred to it as the most productive visit in history. Elaborating the country's relationship with China, the Minister called it a difficult swing. He emphasized that the state of the border will determine the state of the relationship and the state of the border today is still abnormal
