Agartala, Sep 8 (FD) Tripura gover nment in line with its commitment of increasing social pension to Rs. 2000 per month before the festivities of Durga Puja, all beneficiaries will get their social wages at the rate of Rs. 2000 from September itself, Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Santana Chakma announced on Wednesday.
Addressing a press conference at Civil Secretariat here the Minister highlight the developmental activities of SW and SE department said that at present altogether 1,41,401 beneficiaries are getting their social pension through Public Fund Management System (PFMS), which is an advanced transaction-based system using which the government distributes benefits among the beneficiaries directly.
Chakma said that among total social pension beneficiaries of 1,58,197, a total of 16,796 social pensioners are not getting the social wages due to banking issues and as per direction of the union government, all social pension beneficiaries have to get their pension benefits only through PFMS . She said a total of 16,796 social pensioners' names were not enlisted through PFMS due to banking technical issues and soon all the issues will be resolved.
The Minister added that CDPO and Anganwadi offices are working to resolve the problems and hoped that soon all 16,796 social pensioners will get their monthly wages.
She added that the department is working to make sure that the registration is completed by this month and before Durga Puja, all the beneficiaries will have their dues cleared.
The minister said that delay was due to various factors, including non-updated KYC in banks and changes in the beneficiaries’ bank IFSC codes and added that all ICDS officers have been directed to get the corrected bank details with updated information for the PFMS portal.
She said due to technical issues pension could not be deposited in time and some sections are spreading rumours against the social pension scheme, which is not correct. She assured that there are no reasons for worry and all pension beneficiaries will get their due wages before Durga Puja.
