Agartala, Sep 16 (FD) The role of engineers is incomparable towards making life easier, therefore they must utilize their skills and natural resources towards development of Tripura, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said after inaugurating the 55th Engineers' Day programme at Pragya Bhawan today.
Addressing the gathering he said, “Our state is abundant with natural resources such as rubber, bamboo and tea etc. therefore the engineers must utilize their skills and the natural resources towards overall development of the state.”
Dr Saha said, the role of engineers is incomparable towards making life easier and Development of any nation or any state is unimaginable without engineers.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is making efforts to build the nation as one of the best and the engineers are tirelessly working to build a developed nation, Ha said.
Dr Saha said, “Earlier, a single Chief Engineer had to supervise different works in the state administration. However, at present, there are Chief Engineers in engineering section of different departments for convenience at work. As a result, the pace of work has also increased.”
The Chief Minister urged to introduce work ethics of great Indian engineer Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya as inspiration to the students.
Chief Secretary J. K. Sinha said, “The engineers have made the human civilisation colourful. Life has been made easier because of the engineers. They have made commendable contributions in each sectors starting from connectivity, electricity, health etc.”
Secretary of PWD department Kiran Gitte said, engineers day is celebrated in the state with the initiative of the government.
NIT Professor Shubhadeep Bhattacharjee and Chief Engineer of PWD (Roads and building) Rajib Debbarma also spoke on the occasion.
The Chief Minister also unveiled the statue of Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya at the office premises of The Institute of Engineers, Tripura branch situated at Gurkhabasti on the occasion of 55th Engineers' Day programme.
