Empowering 37 women drivers: Governor celebrates Training Program Success

Agartala, Nov 5 (FD) The closing ceremony for the third batch of driving training was organized today at the Institute of Driving and Training Research in Jiraniya. Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu attended as the chief guest, while Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury was present as a special guest. A total of 37 women completed driving training in this batch.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu remarked that today is a significant day for the institution. He highlighted that providing driving training for women is a crucial step toward their empowerment. He emphasized that trained women can contribute to societal development, become employable, self-reliant, and gain confidence. These trained women drivers have not only paved the way for their personal growth but have also set an example for future women's empowerment. He advised the women to drive professionally and prioritize safety.
Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury noted that three batches of training have been completed since the institute was established in 2023, but this batch is particularly remarkable as all participants were women. The training lasted for 45 days. He added that, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision, the state government is committed to empowering and supporting women's independence.
State Transport Department Secretary CK Jamatia delivered the welcome address at the event. Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu and other guests distributed certificates and driving licenses to the newly trained women drivers. Additional Secretary of the Department of Transport, Subrata Chowdhury, gave the vote of thanks. Also in attendance were Jiraniya Panchayat Samiti Chairman Pritam Debnath, philanthropist Gauranga Bhowmik, and the Governor’s Joint Secretary Ratan Bhowmik. After the ceremony, the Governor visited the training institute's simulator room.
