Electrified trains to run in Tripura by next month

Agartala, Jan 6 (FD) The trains running on the tracks of Tripura by diesel are likely to be run by the electricity in the month of February this year, officials said today.
NF railway officials said that electrification of the projects has been completed except a few minor works, adding that Rs. 46-crore projects launched in 2022.
When the works electrification from Badarpur in Assam to the capital city Agartala has been completed and the rest is on.
The power would be supplied to the NF Railway in Tripura side would be provided by the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd (TSECL).
TSECL sources said that they had taken works for erections of three traction power substations at Kumarghat, Khowai and Gomati district, of which Kumarghat sub-station was completed and the rest would be completed soon.
When the NF railway has asked for five megawatts power for each substation the TSECL is ready to provide even more.
Sources said that it can be hoped that electrified trains could move by the next month.
Chief Public Relation officer of NFR, Kapinjal Sharma said that in Assam’s Barpeta side some works in hilly areas are yet to be completed, but it would not take much times. FD JK
