Eight students and a teacher injured in a road mishap near old Rajbhavan

Agartala, Oct 23 (FD) Eight students and a teacher of the ICFAI University sustained injuries when a speeding passenger’s jeep hit a road divider and skidded off in between the Pushpabanta Palace (Old Rajbhavan) and hotel Pollo Tower.

A female student fell down from the jeep and broke her right leg. The other students and the teacher were also admitted to the G.B Pant hospital.

Local people rushed to the spot immediately after the accident and rescued the injured people and helped admitting them at the hospital.

Police also visited the scene and seized the vehicle, but the driver absconded.

Local people alleged that the accident would not have occurred if the traffic police were there.

They also alleged that the vehicles like ‘Commander Jeep and Cruiser’ became old and operating on roads, but the state Transport department did not take any action against them. FD JK
