Agartala, Sep 9: Efforts should be made to make the state an educational hub centering on the pride of the state Maharaja Bir Bikram College, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion of the celebration of platinum jubilee of Maharaja Bir Bikram College, he said, we want to make the college an 'centre of excellence' with the help of former professors and students.
“MBB College is not less important than other popular colleges in the country. Many history of the state are associated with the college. Several talented personalities are now working abroad with reputation after qualifying from the college, Dr Saha said.
King Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya and later Maharani Kanchanprabha Devi played a very important role in establishing MBB College, Dr Saha said adding, later, the college was transformed into a renowned college in the state with the tireless efforts of eminent academicians.
The Chief Minister asked the higher education department to create an e-book to preserve the history of contributions of eminent persons.
He is hopeful that the college will bring more glory to the state in the future.
Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath said, the College is the premier educational institution of the state which has played a very important role as a seat of education.
Vice Chancellor of MBB University, Dr Satyadeo Podder, Director of Higher Education Department NC Sharma, and Acting Principal of MBB College Dr Ashis Mitra spoke at the event.
