Drug Seizure, Arrests at Agartala Railway Station

Agartala, Feb 20 (FD) In a major anti-narcotics operation, Agartala GRP police, in coordination with the Railway Protection Force (RPF), arrested a man at Agartala Railway Station last night.
In a separate incident, Authorities seized 5.250 kg of dry ganja, concealed inside a trolley bag. The accused was allegedly planning to smuggle the contraband to another state by train.
The estimated market value of the seized ganja is around ₹50,000. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act at Agartala GRP police station, and the accused is being intensively interrogated. Officials suspect a larger drug network is operating in the region, and more arrests are expected soon.
Meanwhile, in another significant development, a drug peddler was arrested in Sonamani Sipahipara under the jurisdiction of Ranirbazar police station. The accused is suspected to be linked to a case where 298 kg and 55 grams of ganja were seized from six pantry boys at Agartala Railway Station on November 17, 2024.
Investigators believe he played a crucial role in traficking the narcotics using the Deoghar Express. The six pantry boys remain in judicial custody.
Additionally, a joint operation by Agartala GRP, BSF, RPF, and the Intelligence Department led to the arrest of two Bangladeshi nationals at Agartala Railway Station yesterday evening. During initial questioning, they claimed to be traveling to Kolkata. A case has been filed against them, and they will be presented before the court today. FD SB JK
